CULTURAL HERITAGE

One of the names that not only people from Rousse but from across Bulgaria pride on is the well-known name of “Bistra and Galina” Hotel-foundation. There is an impressive number of children, families, businessmen, who connect this name with nobility and charity in the name of culture, history, science, education. The already rich history of the foundation contains the successes, the sponsorships and all good deeds, which separate good intentions from realized ideas. And so the next endeavour of the Foundation to the town of Rousse and its citizens is a real gesture to the cultural-historical heritage of Bulgaria. „Bistra&Galina“ Hotel-Foundation funded the manufacturing of a miniature model of the famous Profit Building, in the honour of the 100-year anniversary of the building. In this way Rousse became part of the list of city names, which represent the Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage in a permanent exhibition „Bulgaria in a palm of a hand“. “Bistra and Galina” Foundation was established and registered on 10th of July 1998 in town of Rousse and is based on the history of hotel complex “Bistra and Galina” owned by Zdravka and Strashimir Bardarovi, which opened doors back in 1999. The mission of the foundation is to help and support the development of talented children, pupils and students as well as to popularize of the cultural heritage of Rousse, the region and Bulgaria. The hotel activity revenue goes for funding the activities of “Bistra and Galina” Foundation, which branch into five main programmes: “The Talented Children of Rousse”, “The Familly of the Good People”, “Institutional Setting of the Organization”, “Partnership”, “Open Programme”. In memory of the deceased an year ago Strashimir Bardarov, his wife Zdravka Bardarova kept the family promise for sponsoring the realization of a miniature model of the famous Profit building in Rousse – the “Sava Ognyanov” Theatre. Today that miniature model is already a part of the exhibition “Bulgaria in a palm of a hand” and together with many other emblematic for the country objects, is situated in the permanent exhibition hall in the Culture Centre “Krasno Selo” in Sofia. Together with the latest miniature model of the “Sava Ognyanov” Theatre people in Sofia may also enjoy other objects in the exhibition: the covered bridge by master-mason Kolio Ficheto in town of Lovetch, the Russian Church in town of Shipka and the Panagiurishte gold treasure. In this way “Bulgaria in a palm of a hand” comes to life in the full set of its exhibition items showing the most remarkable Bulgarian monuments: The Rila Mo-nastery, the Plovdiv Ancient theatre, the middle-age Turnovo Fortification site, the Aleksander Nevski Temple Monument, town of Koprivshtica, the Varna Cathedral Temple, the Radetsky ship, the National Art Gallery, The Monument of Freedom on mount Shipka, the National Theatre in Sofia, the Rider from Madara…

Perhaps it is not an accident that the way some time ago the idea to build the architectural pearl of the town of Rousse - the Profit Building - came to life out of sponsorship proper. Today Mrs. Zdravka Bardarova follows the footsteps of those noble Rousse citizens, who created the emblem of European architecture in town. When writing of the history of the Rousse theatre construction process, researchers accentuate on the following: “… the idea for its building comes out of the necessity to financially help Rousse schools’ necessary equipment, teachers’ payments, pupils’ aids, etc. It has been for quite sometime that citizens of Rousse needed a building that would generate revenue and simultaneously act as a unifying culture centre. In 1896 the Municipality together with the Rousse School Board makes a decision to rise a building that will transfer some funding to municipal schools…” Up till now “Bistra and Galina” Hotel-foundation has won lots of prizes: from the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Associacion (BHRA) – ‘Most Efficient Investment in Tourism”, 1999; for a BHRA member, who have contributed most into “Building the Image of Bulgaria Abroad”, 2001; of the prestigious prize “Arch of Europe” (gold category) - prize for quality awarded by the world organization Business Initiative Directions – BID, 2001; of the Century International Platinum Quality Era Award, 2002 as well as others.
